Avalon Beanie & Slouch – Free Crochet Hat Pattern

It’s been a while since I designed the Chevron Peaks Slouch for the first Hat Not Hate campaign. I really loved the technique & crochet stitches that created the design and texture of the hat. I loved it so much that I’ve come up with several other projects using the same crochet stitches and technique (the Argyle Beanie & Slouch and Diamonds & Fur Stocking to name a couple). You can find the free crochet pattern for the Avalon Beanie & Slouch in this post below, or an ad-free print friendly version on Love Crafts here, Ravelry here, or on Etsy here.

The Avalon Beanie & Slouch includes options to make 3 different style hats! There are 2 different band options for the slouch hat and a simple hat band for the beanie design. There’s a little for everyone’s preferred fit and style.

THE YARN

Worsted weight yarn is my favorite weight to use for crochet beanies. Mostly because I live in the great frozen north (Michigan’s Upper Peninsula) and crochet hats made of yarns lighter than a 4, won’t keep our ears from getting frost bite…. we can’t have that!
For this crochet beanie & slouch pattern, I chose to use one of my favorite worsted weight yarns, Lion Brand Wool Ease. Wool Ease is an acrylic and wool blend that is available in over 50 colors!
