Kids Plaid Vest
Last winter I designed a Men’s Plaid Vest for Interweave Crochet Magazine‘s Winter 2018 issue. The day has finally come! Click here to grab your copy of the Winter 2018 issue!
After seeing the men’s version, my group of pattern testers began asking when the kids sizes would be ready for testing. After speaking with the editor of the magazine, we agreed to work together on release dates.

I chose Lion Brand Yarn’s Wool Ease Worsted for a couple reasons. First and foremost, it’s my favorite worsted weight yarn. Secondly, they had the perfect colors for the traditional buffalo plaid color scheme. The colors shown in the photo above are black, cranberry, and ranch red. Third, it’s a worsted weight so it works up rather quickly and yet it’s a light enough worsted weight yarn that it’s not too heavy.
The pattern includes sizes 12 months thru 14/16 years. It also includes a complete size chart for your reference so you can choose the size that will best fit the body type of your son/daughter. Instructions are also included so that you can easily adjust the length if your child has a longer torso.
This double layered, zipper front vest uses basic stitches and a very simple construction. If you’ve never added a zipper to a crochet project before, don’t fret…it’s super simple and there’s a photo tutorial included to help! There’s also a tutorial right HERE on my blog!
