Crochet Rose Pattern – Free Crochet Pattern

Use this simple crochet rose pattern to make crochet rose appliques to adorn your crochet projects such as baskets, hats, and more. I originally designed this crochet rose pattern to add rose appliques to adorn my Woven Treasures Basket. This free crochet rose pattern is simple, easy, and great to use up your scrap yarn. YARN

I used a few scrap worsted weight yarns that I had here at home. You can use other yarn weights, but you may need to adjust your hook size accordingly.

ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)

  • ch(s): chain
  • sl st(s): slip stitch(es)
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • sc: single crochet
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • dc: double crochet

 

 

NOTES

  • I tend to crochet on the tighter side. You may find yourself needing to go down a hook size (or two) to properly meet gauge, but gauge isn’t critical for this project.
  • Yardage: 4 yards
  • Yarns of a similar weight can be substituted.
  • Changes for Sizes Written as Follows: Small (Medium, Large)

 

Crochet Rose Pattern

Row 1: Ch 26 (32, 40), work 2 dc in the 2nd ch from your hook, ( skip the next ch, 3 dc in the next ch ) repeat from ( to ) across. Fasten Off. Leave a 10″ tail.

Flower Assembly

Step 1: Beginning with the 1st dc made, coil your work.

Step 2: Carefully flip your rosette upside down. Using a yarn needle and tail of yarn, sew thru the layers of the rosette as shown in photo below. Weave back and forth until all layers are secure.

Wrap the pink crochet spiral around and around to form the small crochet rose. Medium pink crochet rose with tail of yarn not yet woven in. Use a yarn needle and tail of yarn to sew the rounds of the crochet rose together.

 

Leaf

Row 1: Ch 9, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of the next 2 chs, hdc in the next ch, dc in each of the next 3 chs, hdc in the last ch. (8 sts)

Fasten Off. Leave 8″ tail to sew onto rosette.

Sew leaf onto the bottom of the rosette using a yarn needle and tail of yarn.
