Welcome to our 2024 Share the Warmth Crochet Along – Part 1!

A Crocheted Simplicity and Blackstone Designs have teamed up again to bring you another fun crochet along!

This crochet along is a FREE crochet community event for all!

Whether you’re crocheting gifts for family or for charity, we hope you’ll come mingle with us for a little winter crochet fun!

What is the Share the Warmth Crochet Along?

Sonya and I created the “Share the Warmth” Crochet Along (CAL) as a community-driven event where crafters from all over will come together to create handmade crochet items that can be donated to those in need.

This event will be broken up into at least three parts and we will focus on making winter essentials like mittens, hats, and scarves, that can be distributed to shelters, schools, charities, or directly to individuals experiencing homelessness or hardship during the colder months.

For Part 1 of our Share the Warmth Crochet Along, Sonya and I have each designed a brand new crochet mitten pattern. Join us in our crochet community groups (see info below) to share your progress and tips with others. Crocheting along with fellow crocheters helps to build a sense of connection in our online communities.

Our “Share the Warmth” CAL is designed to foster both creativity and generosity. It offers an opportunity for crochet enthusiasts of all skill levels to contribute their talents toward a meaningful goal, while learning new techniques and patterns along the way. The event not only provides warmth to those in need but also spreads awareness about homelessness and poverty, encouraging broader community engagement in giving back.

Is Donating My Project a Requirement to Join the Crochet Along?

Absolutely not!

It doesn’t matter if you’ll be crocheting mittens for yourself, as a gift for someone, or to donate, our Share the Warmth CAL is open to ALL crocheters who want to crochet new mittens!

How do I Join in the Fun?

  • Join both designer’s community groups on Facebook so you can crochet along with us! It’s also a great place to ask questions, look for inspiration, and help others with their projects. To join, click the names of the groups below:
  • I don’t have Facebook: If you do not have a Facebook account, you can still join us for the crochet along by joining the A Crocheted Simplicity Ravelry Group and looking for the 2024 Share the Warmth CAL thread.
    • Note: If you have a Facebook account, please choose between the FB group or Ravelry group and only post your photos for entry in one group. Each entry will only be counted once.
  • Crochet Along
    • Crochet 1 or both of the new crochet mitten designs we release. You can make as many as you’d like and each pair will gain you another entry. 
    • Each pattern will be available free on the respective designer’s blogs.
  • Enter to Win Prizes
    •  After you’ve finish a project, post a photo of your finished item in that designer’s Facebook group to claim your free pattern of choice from the designer and to be entered to win One of Two $25 Gift Cards to Amazon!
    • The more projects you complete, the greater your chances are of winning!
  • Earn Bonus Entries

  • CAL Starts: Friday, September 20, 2024 by 5am PST.
  • CAL Ends: Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11:59pm PST.
  • Winners Announced: Monday, September 30, 2024.
  • NOTE: You have from September 20th through the 27th to complete and submit your photo!

All About the Prizes

    • To be entered to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card, simply post a photo of your finished project(s) on the Share the Warmth CAL post in the designer’s group.
  • Receive a Free Pattern of Choice
    • EVERYONE who completes a project will receive 1 pattern of choice from the designer who’s project they completed!
    • If you completed a project from both designers, you will receive a pattern of choice from both designers.

The Share the Warmth Crochet Along will be hosted in three parts:

  • Part 1 – Mittens (September)
  • Part 2 – Scarves (October)
  • Part 3 – Beanies (November).

  2. Oh bother! I’d love to join this CAL, but I don’t use facebook. Maybe I am the only one?? However, would it be possible for you to set up a group in Ravelry please? Thanks so much!
